Nami Island Zipline: Price, Limits and How to Book It

The Nami Island Zipline drops you from an 80 meter tower on a 940 meter cable across the Bukhan River, and the Family Course ticket costs KRW 55,000. The price includes island admission and the return ferry, so you land on the island and ride the boat back.

Quick answer Price, limits and booking at a glance

The zipline costs KRW 55,000 for the Family Course and KRW 58,000 for the Adventure Course, and the ticket covers island admission plus the return ferry. Riders must be 140 to 200 cm tall and weigh 45 to 120 kg. Rides run 09:00 to 18:00 from an 80 meter tower near Gapyeong Wharf.

Key takeaways

Can you zipline to Nami Island?

Yes, the zip wire is one of only three ways onto the island, alongside the ferry and the motorboat.

You launch from a tower beside Gapyeong Wharf and land on the island itself. The island operator confirms the island can only be entered by ferry, motorboat or the zip wire, so a zipline ticket is a real entry ticket, not just an activity.

How the ride works

You buy the ticket at the Zip Tower opposite the ticket office in the car park at Gapyeong Wharf. Staff put you in a bucket seat with your bag on your lap, then release you from the top of the tower. There are two side by side cables, so you can ride next to a friend.

The ticket only works one way, into the island, and everyone leaves by ferry.

How much is the Nami Island zipline?

The Family Course costs KRW 55,000 and the Adventure Course KRW 58,000, and the ticket includes island admission and the return ferry.

The Nami Island zipline cost sits above the plain ferry ticket because admission and the boat back are bundled in. The island's own page states that the zip wire price includes the return ferry and island admission, and that it can only be ridden to enter the island.

What the ticket includes

Your zip wire ticket covers the ride, entry to the island and the regular ferry back to the mainland. Compare that with the standard route, where regular admission with the round trip ferry is KRW 19,000 per adult according to the island's own pricing page. A motorboat ride from Gapyeong Wharf costs KRW 10,000 per person to Nami Wharf or KRW 15,000 to Meta Wharf, and it needs a separately bought island ticket.

How do I book the Nami Island zipline and is there a reservation?

You buy tickets at the Zip Tower at Gapyeong Wharf, and the operator advises booking in advance because walk up waits have stretched to hours.

There is no published appointment system, and one traveller report says rides start at 8am with no appointments taken. The ride operator itself says wait times have reached 3 to 4 hours even in freezing weather, and more than 6 hours after a TV show aired, so buying ahead is the safe move.

Where and when to buy

Tickets are sold at the Zip Tower, opposite the ticket office in the car park at Gapyeong Wharf. Operator hours are 09:00 to 18:00, and the Korea Tourism Organization lists April to October at 09:00 to 19:00 and November to March at 09:00 to 18:00. What are the Nami Island zipline weight and height limits?

Riders must be between 140 and 200 cm tall and weigh between 45 and 120 kg, and the weight limits can change with the weather.

The island's own activity page prints the limits, and staff check them at the tower. There is no published minimum age on the operator pages, so families with young children should call 031-582-8091 before arriving. Travellers under 140 cm or over 120 kg take the ferry instead, and regular ferries run from 08:00 with the crossing taking about 5 minutes.

If you fall outside the limits, the motorboat carries 2 to 5 passengers from 09:00 to 18:00 in the roughly April to November season, and the ferry runs all year.

How long and fast is the ride?

The cable runs 940 meters from tower to island, the launch tower is 80 meters tall, and top speeds are listed at 35 and 45 miles per hour on the two side by side cables.

The crossing takes about a minute and a half. ZipRider, the ride maker, notes it was the first ZipRider to cross water, and the island describes it as an 80 meter descent of about 1 km over the Bukhan River.

Ride stats

You sit in a bucket seat rather than a harness, with your backpack on your lap, so the ride feels steady rather than extreme. The faster cable suits riders who want speed, the slower one suits first timers. Pick the moment you step up to the platform, since the two cables run side by side.

Where do you land, and how do you get back?

You land along the scenic cycling route on the island, away from the ferry dock, and you leave on the regular ferry from the island dock.

A TripAdvisor reviewer notes the zipline ends at a different spot from where the ferry docks and that the ticket counter is separate on the mainland side. The Bike Center sits in the middle of the island, and renting a bike there costs from KRW 5,000 per 30 minutes if you want to pedal to the dock. Ferries off the island run from 08:05 to 21:05, with the last inbound ferry at 21:00.

Planning the return

Your zip wire ticket already includes the return ferry, so just walk to the island dock. Regular ferries run every 30 minutes from 08:00 to 09:00, every 10 to 20 minutes from 09:00 to 18:00 and every 30 minutes from 18:00 to 21:00. The crossing takes about 5 minutes and drops you back at Gapyeong Wharf, a short walk from the car park and the station bus stop.

Is the Nami Island zipline worth it?

It is worth it if you want an arrival with a view and your timing is flexible, and the price gap over the ferry is about the cost of the extra experience since admission is included either way.

The island draws about two million visitors a year, roughly an hour from Seoul, and the zipline is its headline thrill. Regular admission with the round trip ferry is KRW 19,000 per adult, so the zipline is a premium arrival rather than a huge extra spend once you count the included ferry back.

When the ferry is the better pick

The ferry crosses in about 5 minutes, runs every 10 to 20 minutes through the day, and the island is open 365 days a year with ferries running even when the river freezes. On peak days, when zip line waits have hit 3 to 4 hours, the ferry wins on time. On a quiet weekday morning at opening, the ride from an 80 meter tower over the river is the better story.

Can you ride the Nami Island zipline in winter?

The operator lists November to March hours of 09:00 to 18:00, and weight limits may change with the weather, so expect possible restrictions on cold or windy days.

The island itself stays open 365 days a year, and an icebreaker keeps ferries running when the river freezes unless a notice is posted. The zip wire operates on the winter schedule above, but high wind at the top of the tower can tighten the limits, so call 031-582-8091 before a cold season visit.

Winter day planning

A guided winter option is Nami Island, Petite France and Italian Village and Garden of Morning Calm Tour at $78.10 per person. If you ride the zip wire in, dress in layers, because the launch platform sits 80 meters above a frozen or near frozen river and the ride itself brings wind chill at up to 45 mph.

Where is the zipline cheapest to book?

At the Zip Tower the Family Course costs KRW 55,000 and the Adventure Course KRW 58,000, both with island admission and the return ferry.

Sellers differ in what they bundle, so compare what each ticket covers rather than the sticker alone. Prices shown come from the seller pages listed under this section.

Is the Nami Island zipline safe, and what about accidents?

No accident or fatality figure for this ride is published in the sources available, and the ride runs on a bucket seat system from ZipRider, an operator whose Nami Island cable was the first ZipRider to cross water.

The ride is a seated descent on fixed cables, not a harness-and-cliff setup, and staff manage loading at the tower. For a sense of scale across the activity in general, no specific fatality rate for ziplining is stated in the material behind this page, so do not treat any general figure as applying to this ride.

What riders report

Travellers describe a calm ride, seated in a bucket seat with a backpack on the lap, over about a minute and a half. The practical risks are weather and waits rather than the cable itself, since weight limits may change with the weather and queues have stretched to 3 to 4 hours on peak days. Check the day's limits at the Zip Tower before you commit.
