Groups of 20 or more paying regular prices get 10 percent off the total, valid only with the regular ferry.

What the ticket includes

Admission includes the ferry fare in both directions on the regular boat. Your ticket is technically a visa, because the owners declared the island the Naminara Republic with its own passport and currency.

How long is the ferry ride to Nami Island?

The crossing takes about 5 minutes after boarding.

Ferries run all day and the island is open every day of the year. First ferry to the island leaves at 08:00 and the last at 21:00. First ferry off the island is 08:05 and the last is 21:05.

Ferry schedule

Ferries run in the rain, and an icebreaker keeps them going when the river freezes unless a notice is posted. Extra sailings are added in cherry blossom, holiday and foliage seasons.

TimeFrequency
08:00 to 09:00Every 30 minutes
09:00 to 18:00Every 10 to 20 minutes
18:00 to 21:00Every 30 minutes

Peak season extras

In summer the last ferry runs at 21:30 on Fridays, Saturdays and days before public holidays during the peak holiday weeks. In autumn the first ferry leaves at 07:30 daily and the last runs at 21:30 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays during the foliage weeks.

Motorboat alternative

A motorboat-only ride from Gapyeong Wharf costs KRW 10,000 per person to Nami Wharf or KRW 15,000 to Meta Wharf, and you still buy an island ticket separately.

Why the ticket looks like a visa

The island runs as a fictional nation, the Naminara Republic, complete with flag, stamps, currency and passport. That is why the entrance ticket is framed as a visa rather than a simple entry fee.

What is the Nami Island zipline price?

The zip wire costs 55,000 KRW for the 5 percent grade slope and 58,000 KRW for the 15 percent grade slope, and both prices include island admission plus the return ferry.

Hotel Jeonggwanru rooms run KRW 148,000 to 238,000, bungalows KRW 280,000 to 440,000, and everything on the island shuts down around 8pm.

When prices are worth it most

Peak autumn color falls between the third week of October and the second week of November, and cherry blossoms usually bloom from mid-April to early May. Those weeks draw the biggest crowds, so arrive early and consider the early-bird reduced ticket for boarding before 08:00.

Is Nami Island really worth it?

Most visitors say yes, since the 19,000 KRW ticket buys a full day of tree-lined paths on an island that welcomes nearly 2 million people a year.

The island was formed when Cheongpyeong Dam was built in 1944 and forested from 1965. The 2001 KBS drama Winter Sonata was shot here and drew tourists from across Asia, and today more than 700,000 foreign visitors from 122 countries arrive each year.

Who gets the most value

Families get the most from the child fare of 13,000 KRW and free entry for under-36-months, since bikes and the Story Tour Bus are cheap add-ons. Couples and photographers get the most in the autumn weeks from mid-October to early December, when ginkgo color peaks late October to mid-November. If you want more for your money in one day, the Nami Island, Petite France and Garden of Morning Calm tour adds two more stops for $78.10 per person.
